Exercise Research

Researchers at the Clinical Movement Science Laboratory in Omaha, Nebraska studied the effectiveness of 5 commonly performed abdominal strengthening exercises. Results indicate that the Reverse Curl (see Knee-Ups in the Virtual Weight Room) resulted in the greatest amount of lower abdominal activity, the V-Sit and Reverse Curl exercises resulted in the greatest amount of external oblique activity, and the standard Curl-Up, Reverse Curl, and Oblique Curl-Up all resulted in similar amounts of upper abdominal activity.
