Headache- Duke University Report

A new systematic review from Duke University titled Evidence Report: Behavioral and Physical Treatments for Tension-type and Cervicogenic Headache has been published. It is of major importance because it reports evidence supporting chiropractic management of patients with either cervicogenic or tension-type headache. We in the chiropractic have always known this, but it nice to see it published for other healthcare individuals to read.

It compares the safety and effectiveness of pharmacological (drugs), behavioral and physical treatments for these type headaches.

  • Chiropractic care is effective for the treatment of cervicogenic headache, producing more sustained reduction in frequency and severity of headaches than various other physical and soft tissue procedures.
  • Chiropractic care is effective in the treatment of tension-type headache, producing markedly superior long-term results in comparison with the standard pharmacological treatment with amitriptyline.

If you know anyone that suffers from headaches, let them know that that there is a safe, drug free solution to their problem.
